ACIM: Another Tool for your Every Day

Hullo Hullo Dear Balanced Souls!

Have you ever looked into A Course In Miracles?  It’s one of those Books…one of those books that lies in discount shelves at Barnes and Noble (I have seen it myriad times, and wondered at it being there, in all of its simple perfection) that could deeply change how you examine your life.

Now, I don’t go all in for any One Way.  Maybe you have already gathered that? That I am in love with All Paths, and I believe that each Path is valid for someone, as long as it’s not hurting anyone.  So ACIM is a spiritual text that I find fascinating…not because it’s original (I mean, any more original than the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads, the Torah, the Koran or the Bible…they all offer the same lessons in a different set of colors, and if you haven’t explored them yet, I’d say god for it!  And I don’t mean the small details are the same…so don’t get your panties all in a twist, please.  Their essence, though, is all the same Truth: you are Divine, and you have a responsibility to be Good for the World while you are here), but because of its depth and breadth.  It’s everywhere I look, and yet it’s almost an undercurrent in our society: people don’t talk about it on the same scale as the Bible (etc), but it holds those lessons, and there are groups of people who study it seriously and live their lives by its lessons.

Recently, I was asked to label myself and my belief system.  Eesh.  I haven’t had such a difficult question come across my plate in quite some time. At the end of a 10 minute diatribe on what I believe in, I ended up saying, “Well I do yoga. I over-think things sometimes. That’s about it.” ACIM certainly caught my eye, as  I gather and glean bits of wisdom from all over the world.  I have books of mythologies from so many different cultures, and  I find that ACIM is almost another anthology to flip through, especially when I am in a more “God to be Asked for Help” sort of place. Am I coming across as just all over the place, or does this business make sense to you?

Hmmmm…so this is one of those Tools that can offer beautiful consistency, if we are looking for it.  A “rock” is sometimes a really lovely thing to cultivate when engaging with a practice of any sort.  Whether we are sitting in meditation, writing a gratitude journal, practicing yoga, or consciously doing the dishes, consistency is something that can truly help us when waters get rough.  So if you are looking for a text to explore, for a community that you could enter in to without exactly finding them in physical life, then this might be for you.

You can read more about ACIM here, and I encourage you to explore the site a bit before you purchase a copy…simply because, if you just get the book, you might never actually explore it.  I mean, I know I’m guilty of that: gorgeous books piling up and then never getting around to them.  Decide if you want to immerse yourSelf in this before you step into it, and then commit fully if  that’s where you are!

Bless, love, and plenty of consistent Goodness your way.

p.s. I am also delving into the Torah, lately…and really kinda loving it, much to my surprise! It’s amazing, actually cultivating connection with ancestral roots, and feeling good about it.
